About Beta Test
Thank you for considering the Sublutions+ beta. This page explains the account and download step, how to set the app up on your PC, what kind of tester we are looking for, and where to read the full story about what the app does.
Account and download
To download the current beta build you need a free account on this site.
- Email address — required. Used to sign in and to reach you about the beta
(important fixes, updated builds, or a quick question about something you reported).
- Phone number — optional. You can leave it blank. It is only for account
recovery or urgent contact if you choose to provide it. It is not required to use Sublutions+ and the app does not collect your phone number.
After you sign up and sign in, use the download link for the Sublutions+ zip file. Save the zip somewhere you will remember (Downloads is fine).
What you are downloading: a portable Windows application folder, not an installer from the Microsoft Store and not a Plex plugin. The app runs on your PC and works on your video files locally; it does not connect to your Plex server.
Is this beta for you?
Sublutions+ is built for people who run a home Plex (or similar) library and still remux or fix files before they go on the server — especially when:
- Subtitle tracks are mislabeled (forced vs dialogue vs SDH).
- Forced foreign dialogue does not show up unless you burn subs in.
- Burning forced subs doubles lines in the regular subtitle tracks.
- You only have SDH but want a clean dialogue-only track.
- Audio language is wrong or missing, or you need a stereo track for TVs.
- Release-group spam clutters metadata but you want to keep real tags and art.
- Players offer "closed captions" even when the track list looks empty
(in-video CEA-608 captions).
You should be comfortable copying files, reading a planned output summary before you write anything, and testing on real problem files from your own library — not only on a demo clip.
This beta is a small group. We are looking for honest feedback: what confused you, what broke, and whether the results match what you expected on your hardware.
Set up Sublutions+ (first time on your PC)
Step 1 — Unzip the download
- Extract the entire zip to a folder you control, for example:
C:\Sublutions+
- Keep everything inside that folder together. Do not move only the .exe out of
the folder; the app needs the rest of the files (ffmpeg, tools, and support files) beside it.
Step 2 — Start the app
- Double-click Sublutions+.exe in that folder.
- Windows may show SmartScreen or an "unknown publisher" warning because this
is a small beta, not a store app. If you trust this download from this site, choose to run it anyway (wording varies by Windows version).
Step 3 — Welcome page (first launch only)
The first time you run the app, you will see a Welcome page inside the main window. You only need a few choices to begin:
1. Default output folder — Browse and pick where finished files should go. (Required. Use a drive with plenty of free space if you plan to re-encode video.)
2. Hardware — The app detects the graphics card driving your display and suggests an encoder preset. Leave it as detected unless you already know you want software encoding only. After a GPU or driver change, open Preferences later and use Analyze Hardware.
3. Windows integration (optional) — Tick "Show in Windows Open with menu" if you want to right-click a video in File Explorer and send it to Sublutions+.
4. Click Start using Sublutions+ (bottom-right). The Builder opens and you can add files.
Step 4 — Try one file before a big batch
- Drag a video into the batch or use + Add files.
- Click the file and wait for subtitle analysis to finish (files with many
subtitle tracks can take a minute or two).
- Review Current, Planned, and Compare so you see exactly what will be written.
- Press Start Processing when the plan looks right.
Your settings are saved in src\settings.json inside the app folder. Your window layout and theme are saved separately in src\ui_state.json.
Beta expectations (please read)
- Beta software can have bugs. Test on copies of your files or outputs you can
throw away until you trust a workflow. The app is designed not to delete your source files, but you are responsible for backups of anything irreplaceable.
- Processing can take time and disk space. Re-encoding video (for example when
burning in forced subtitles or changing resolution) uses CPU or GPU and creates large temporary files; the app cleans up temps on start and close, but you need room on the output drive.
- Sublutions+ is Windows-only for this beta.
- Updates: newer beta zips may be posted on this site. There is no automatic
updater yet; download the new zip when announced and replace your folder (merge files; keep your src\settings.json if you want to keep Preferences).
- Feedback: when something goes wrong, note the app version (in the window
title), what you clicked, and what the file was doing. Screenshots of Compare or the processing log help. Reply to the beta contact email or use the contact method shown on this site.
Learn what the app does (User's Guide and Change Log)
The beta zip also includes documentation under Docs\, but the full, up-to-date versions are on Everything Pippin:
- User's Guide — step-by-step explanation of every screen, every choice, and
why the app works the way it does. Read this when you want depth, not a feature list.
- Change Log — what changed in each version; useful if you are updating from an
older beta build.
Use the User's Guide and Change Log links on the Sublutions+ page on this site. Start with "About Sublutions+" and "Your First File, Start to Finish" in the guide if you want a guided path.
In one line: Sublutions+ plans every stream of every file, shows you the plan before anything is written, then builds clean MKV/MP4 output for a home media library — with an override for every automatic decision.
Quick reference
Portable app — copy the whole folder; no Windows installer required Not a Plex plugin — process files on the PC, then copy results to Plex Account — email required to download; phone optional on signup First run — Welcome: output folder + Start using Sublutions+ Full documentation — User's Guide and Change Log on this website (Docs\ in the zip is a copy for offline use)
Thank you for helping test Sublutions+.
